We did a detour to Windermere on the way home from the Yorkshire dales, hired a kayak from Windermere Canoe and Kayak for the day, and went for a paddle on Windermere lake. This was a great way to explore, enabling us to visit islands and different parts of the lake.

Parking is available in the adjacent Ferry Nab parking (54°21’19.6″N 2°55’35.6″W), which also has a cafe for pre or post kayaking snaks.
