Pont Melin-fach

This car park and small picnic area are in a picturesque location next to a 19th century stone bridge. It is a bit off the beaten track but makes a great starting point for exploring the woodlands and waterfalls of the Nedd Fechan valley.

Elidir Trail

3 miles, 4.8 kilometres (one way), moderate

The Elidir Trail heads downstream from the car park following the Nedd Fechan river until it joins the Pyrddin river. The ground is uneven in many places and wet, and there are some steep climbs and descents.

This is typically a walk of 4 falls, however, after a heavy rain many more cascades can be seen along the route.

The entrance to a fairy kingdom is reputed to be somewhere along the Elidir Trail, though you are more likely to find local wildlife on your visit – keep an eye out for the dipper bird (a small dark bird with a white breast that walks underwater).

Park at Pont Melin-fach carpark (51°46’56.0″N 3°35’04.2″W), and follow the trail.
