Burning Nest

Burners, and hippies, and mad hatters, oh my! All thrown into the melting pot that is Nest; the colourful, creative, laughter filled, vibrant, playful The UK burn is held in a small valley in Wales, complete with babbling stream running through the center of ‘camp’. If you’re used to the usual rigours of a burning event this will be luxury; hot showers, flushing toilets, cabins, and…

Rollright Fayre

Rollright festival is located just across the road from the Rollright stone circle and whispering knights standing stones. The 3 day festival started out as a party of friends, and it holds on to those roots rather well so far. The weather is very unreliable this time of year and can go from warm to freezing within hours, but fires are kept roaring and stages playing…

Dirty Beach Fire Spin

  • Post comments:0 Comments

A small man-made shore nicknamed ‘dirty beach’ is the location for a monthly fire spin that I’ve been going to on and off since about 2010. Mainly manned by those who attend spinning@, a weekly gathering for learning and practicing all kinds of spinning. It's a great night to watch too, just stay out of the way of spinners.

Nottingham Pagan pride

  • Post comments:0 Comments

As someone with an ongoing interest in Paganism, I thought it would be interesting to attend a pagan pride. It started with a march from Nottingham town center to the park, where we spent the afternoon wandering the stalls, listening to talks and bands, and lazing around in the sun. An interesting, fun, and relaxing day.

Over the Moon

This melting pot of creativity and fun is great little festival. With musicians, artists, performers and artisans from around the globe, this is a place to express, experience and create what your imagination can conjure. My favorite part was the magic forest: Night time has plenty of fun too. Apparently I was too busy enjoying it to take many pictures 😉

France, Haute-Saône: Folleterre Faerie Sanctuaire

  • Post comments:0 Comments

Folleterre aims to provide a place of safety, homecoming, and inspiration, where queers can expand their gifts and nature, and explore the relationship between sexuality and spirit. It really is a magical place: beautiful, calm, quiet, and sometimes filled with faeries! I went there for a retreat and met some truly wonderful people. I won’t be posting pictures of the event in order to respect the…

Copenhagen Queer Festival and Christiana

  • Post comments:0 Comments

While travelling in Europe, I went to Copenhagen Queer festival, a fabulous gathering that opened my eyes to what was wrong with my life. I ended up spending quite a bit of time wandering around the area too, including Christiana, a self-proclaimed autonomous neighbourhood where government law doesn’t apply. I can't include many photos for privacy reasons, but here are a few I managed to take…

Nowhere festival 2011

  • Post comments:1 Comment

A narrow track down the side of a mountain opens into a dessert plateau, this is the setting for Nowhere. The surroundings themselves are enough of a reason to come here.....but in the midst of all this, a festival appears. Days are scorching hot, filled with socializing, workshops, activities, lazing around, hiking, or whatever takes your fancy. Interrupted only by the occasional sandstorm When night falls, the party…

Italy: Ivrea carnival

  • Post comments:0 Comments

The Historical Carnival of Ivrea is a unique Italian event that re-enacts the city’s liberation from tyranny during Medieval times: a baron who starved the city was driven out thanks to a miller’s daughter who rebelled against the “jus primae noctis” and roused the people to revolt. During the carnival battle, the people (represented by orange throwers on foot without any protection) pelt oranges at the feudal…
