This place is not to be underestimated, it has what I consider to be an excellent balance between access and nature. There are paths ranging from wide and paved to narrow overgrown and steep. Signs to various points of interest are almost non-existent beyond the main entrance, which allows for a good exploration experience, while the size is small enough to allow for wrong turns and circles and still seeing everything. The ‘castle’ is actually a folly, constructed primarily for decoration.
To get here: Park at the main car park (51°30’18.4″N 2°38’16.2″W) or Coombe Dingle car park (51°29’34.6″N 2°38’19.7″W) and follow the main paths.
To get to the castle, after going down the main path down from the main car park towards the Mill, you will see some steps going up on your right (if you reach the Mill you’ve gone too far), they don’t look like they lead anywhere particular but go up them and follow the little path all the way to the end and you will find the castle.
