Also known as the Grey Ladies, this circle has only 4, of the original 9, stones remaining. The tallest remaining standing stones of any prehistoric site in Derbyshire, they stand isolated in a farmer’s field on Harthill Moor. (You can read more about them here)

Also on route are Robin Hood’s Stride (yes, more rocks with a name. 😂) and Hermit’s Cave.

To visit, we parked in the Cratcliff parking area (53°09’13.2″N 1°39’32.5″W). Walk up a little with the road on your right and cross into the first opening. Take the path to the right and follow it down (further instructions below). There is also parking on Cliff Lane (53°09’32.8″N 1°40’07.7″W).

In the picture below, Hermit’s cave is accessed through the little gate on the right and a walk upwards through the woodland. If you take the bigger gate on the left, Robin Hood’s stride appears on your left by simply following the main path. To reach the stone circle, take the route to Robin Hood’s stride and you should see another gate near the stride, from there you should be able to see the circle across the fields in the distance.
