Turtle Shell Reconstruction

One of the most special experiences I had in Mexico was the honour of reconstructing a turtle shell! We found it while exploring one of the beaches and collected all the parts we could find, taking a moment to honour its life with some gentle music and quiet presence.

We carried it back to our lodgings, and I set about the task of cleaning and reconstructing the 3d puzzle.

Much as I would have loved to take it home, these beautiful creatures are protected by law and cannot be removed from the country. So, I gave the reconstructed shell to someone who has a house not far from where we found the remains, so it could live out a new life, honoured and protected, as it rests.
