England, St. Albans: Nomansland Common & Heartwood Arboretum

The common itself isn’t anything to write home about, however, there are a few interesting things dotted around it.

Take a little walk, and you’ll find Heartwood Native Tree Arboretum in a field next door. The trees are young and appear more as shrubbery in the winter season, but I do hope it matures into a lovely spot.

My favourite spot was just across the road from the parking in the more wooded area, where a beautiful tree stands in the middle of a swath of grassy path. Such a peaceful vibe.

To visit, park in Nomansland Parking (51°47’52.4″N 0°18’10.1″W) and cross the road into the forest to find the tree, it’s not hard to locate.

For the arboretum, walk towards your right before crossing the road; cross another road and take the path along the road, continue through the fields until you get to a gap where you can cross the road again into the arboretum. You can continue through a gap in the shrubbery, follow it around to the right to find a place where you can cross the road. Take the little gate across the road to the right and follow the path down back to the common.

If I pass by here again, I’ll check out Heartwood Forest and The Magical Wood nearby too and update.
