The tale goes that nine ladies and a fiddler were turned to stone for dancing on the Sabbath. The nine ladies are a rather cute stone circle in a pretty clearing surrounded by mossy grass, heather and trees. Well worth a visit. I’ve been twice now!
Also nearby is Earl Grey Tower. This was a shooting tower erected by William Pole Thornhill of Stanton Hall to honour Charles 2nd Earl Grey who was Whig Prime Minister from 1830 to 1834 and introduced the Reform Bill in 1832.

To get here, park in the informal layby on Lees Road (53°10’26.1″N 1°37’56.2″W) and walk the signposted path to the circle. The tower is not far beyond.
